I am a fully qualified, specialist dyslexia tutor, coach and assessor.
My experience of teaching spans the early years, primary and secondary phases of education, in both independent and local authority schools.
As an Associate Lecturer in Higher education, I have designed and taught undergraduate programmes including Primary English and supported HE students with research and study skills. I hold a valid DBS certificate for working with children and young people.
Challenges can emerge for students whose dyslexia has not been recognised at an early stage, and whose learning difference then becomes a learning difficulty.
There is no single dyslexic profile, and the characteristics and effects of dyslexia on one person can be different to the effects on another person. Human brains are not all wired in the same way, and this neurodiversity should be valued and nurtured.
Dyslexic individuals bring unique strengths, perspectives and ways of processing information. Many designers, entrepreneurs, architects, surgeons, engineers, carpenters, inventors, actors and others rely on their dyslexic strengths and exceptional talents.
